Notes: Château de Laval is a castle located in Laval, in the French department of Mayenne. It consists of two separate buildings: the Old Castle, medieval defensive building dating from the twelfth century, the Château Neuf, Renaissance work whose construction began in 1542. Both monuments are listed in 1034 the first french historical monuments in 1840.
Old Castle is open to visitors and hosts the Old Castle Museum, known for its collection of naive art, but also has collections dedicated to academic painting of the nineteenth century, the African and Asian ethnology and local history.
