Ownership / Access: Owned by the municipality.
Notes: Château d'Ardelay located on the old town of Ardelay, today merged with the town of Les Herbiers Vendee, is the last existing remnant of a larger set of fortifications from the Middle Ages.By the tenth century on the same site was built a wooden castle, built on a motte surrounded by a wooden fence and a ditch. He had to be replaced by a stone castle with a second wall surrounding the castle, easements, church and cemetery.
