Notes: Forteresse de Châtel-sur-Moselle located in Châtel-sur-Moselle in the Vosges is one of the largest castles in Europe. It covers five hectares, has 22 towers and 1.4 kilometers of ramparts, three floors of galleries and underground rooms. The fortress reflects the evolution of the fortification from the eleventh to the sixteenth century and early adaptation to artillery metal balls. The fortress is partly classified and partly listed building since April 1988. It soon appears as a necessity to classify the site. All parcels located inside the enclosure is the subject of a registration as a historic monument since April 18, 1988. All the constituent parts of the fortress, to the exclusion of modern building is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 18 April 1988.
