The site of the castle, the thirteenth century to the bottom of the eighteenth century and for the upper part, is in a park of seventy hectares enclosed by walls. It contains a simple garden, a Renaissance garden and numerous ponds. The field is located in Chaussy, village of the French Vexin in Val-d'Oise, 5 km from Maudétour-en-Vexin, 8 km of Magny-en-Vexin and about 65 km northwest of Paris. The area is the subject of a classification as historical monuments since 10 September 1941 and since summer 2012, the EVE label for ecological vegetable Area.
The site is an area of castles "eco-managed" by the regional council of Île-de-France under a long lease of 99 years with the Charles Léopold Mayer Foundation for Human Progress, owner of places. It provides a unique set by its vast park, Renaissance gardens, magnificent outlook in a hilly site, and the presence of two castles, a thirteenth century manor home to the lovers of Louis de Mornay, Marquis de Villarceaux, and Ninon de l'Enclos, and a Louis XV-style castle of the eighteenth century. Ponds and canals are powered by 32 sources identified.
