Location: Aromas, in the Jura departement of France (Franche-Comté Region).
Built: 12th century.
Condition: Ruined.

Notes: The castle of Montdidier (castrum Montis Dideri) is an ancient castle, from the twelfth century, center of the lordship of montdidier, which stands on the town of Aromas in the Jura, Franche-Comté region.In 1289, the lords of Montdidier pays homage to the Count of Savoy. But around 1299, they passed on to the Thiers-Villars.The access is difficult due to a steep relief mainly visible to the east. A ditch on the southern part and a belt of walls and towers ensured the defense of the castle. To this day only a few vestiges remain.
