Notes: Château de Marcilly-sur-Maulne is a castle in the Loire private, located in the municipality of Marcilly-sur-Maulne at the exit of the village towards the Lude, on a slope overlooking the Maulne valley.A count of confession confirms the presence of Guy II of Laval "lord of Marcilly" from 1467. His descendants, the Sennetère sell Marcilly Charles Fouquet in 1608.
Charles Fouquet of Tours origin, treasurer of France in Tours, experienced social fortune and married his daughter Françoise Fouquet with Gilles II de Lusignan St Gelais, lord of Azay le Rideau, the estate was passed by the women and remained in the family until 1970. one of them, the Marquise de La Rochebousseau (born Marie Madeleine de Vasse) was nicknamed "the Diablessse" a colorful character, she was noted for an eventful life under the reign of Louis XV.
On 3 August 1944, the castle, outbuildings and park are classified as historic monuments.
