Notes: Château de Charolles is an ancient castle, which dates back to the thirteenth century, which stands on the town of Charolles, in the department of Saône-et-Loire, in the Bourgogne region. In the Middle Ages it was the center of one of six châtellenie Charolais County.
The castle is the subject of a partial inscription as historical monuments by order of 29 October 1926. The Castle of Charolles is located in the French department of Saône-et-Loire in the town of Charolles, at the top of a limestone outcrop gently sloping down to the confluence of Arconce and Seed. Because of its position it allowed control of the crossing of rivers. In the middle of the central courtyard of the castle stood a chapel dedicated to St. Peter; space is now occupied by a public garden (free access).
