Notes: Castle Mavaleix is a French château located in the municipality of Chalais in the Dordogne, in the Aquitaine region. In 1947, the subject of a registration as a historic monument. The castle is built in the thirteenth century and rebuilt in the sixteenth century. It was the home of Grenouillet ironmasters of Mavaleix located a few hundred meters to the northeast, near the Valouse. The Mavaleix Castle is east of the town of Chalais (formerly Chaleix), about 500 meters from National Highway 21, between La Coquille, five kilometers north, and Thiviers, ten kilometers south. It is a private property converted into a hotel-restaurant, lodge and guest rooms. It is registered as historical monuments since 16 December 1947.
