Notes: The castle of Madaillan is located in the town of Madaillan, in the department of Lot-et-Garonne.Several seigneurs bear the name of Madaillan. That of Madaillan, near Agen, did not belong to the family of Madaillan. The castle of Madaillan was built by the family of Fossat, a noble family of the Agenais, lord of a part of Aiguillon. The name of the Fossat does not appear until the twelfth century.
