Location: La Croix-Rousse, in the Gironde departement of France (Aquitaine Region).
Built: 16th century.
Condition: In good condition..
Ownership / Access: Private property.
Notes: The castle of La Tourette was a pleasure residence located in the district of La Croix-Rousse in Lyon. It was completely destroyed with the exception of the main gate, classified historical monument by decree of January 22, 1910. It was the property of the Lord of Rochebonne, of Jacques Teste and finally, by marriage, of the Mazuyer family. The coat of arms at the top of the door still existing, is that of the Mazuyer family. Family crest Mazuyer On the site of the house, demolished in 1884, the teacher training college was built and completed in 1888. The building has since become a university institute of teacher training (IUFM) and from 1 September 2013 , a middle-school.
